The Voice would be an independent and permanent advisory body. It would give advice to the Australian Parliament and Government on matters that affect the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We are committed to listening to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Constitutional recognition gives Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people a voice on matters that affect their lives and will improve social, cultural and economic outcomes for our First Nations people.
While Council supports the Yes vote, we recognise there is a wide range of views within our diverse community. We ask that people make an informed individual decision on how they will vote. Please visit the Electoral Commission website for more information.
