The Wayfarers is a public space performance exploring themes of daring, inclusion and camaraderie through storytelling, literacy and the wild world of the imagination inspired through books. Follow The Wayfarers and their fantastical book trolley on a processional journey in and around Sydenham Library for Harmony Day as they bring the library and surrounding precinct to life in extraordinary ways. Featuring acrobatic stunts, book balances and captivating physical performances that seemingly emerge out of thin air, transporting the audience into the true world of imagination.
Task at Hand is a not-for-profit inclusive theatre company that is dedicated to improving the lives of performers living with intellectual and physical disabilities and raising the public profile of diversity in general. We do this through creating disability-led public space roving theatre shows.
We are excited that the audiences we make work for often don’t even realise they are an audience until they start seeing us perform! For us, this is the best way for people to experience an all-inclusive physical theatre ensemble performance – it should take people by surprise and make them see us there in front of them. It is important that no-one needs a ticket to see our work. It is at its heart inclusive, family friendly, accessible and open for everyone.
The key ensemble involved in our practice is Carmen Maddison, Stephen Phillips, Nina Robertson, Sal Frances, Savannah Coots, Conor O’Keefe and Andrew Nicolaides.
Between us we have an enormous range of skills spread across, directing, choreography, acting, circus and physical theatre, music, technical production and stage management.
