Brimbank City Council has partnered with the Victorian Local Government Association (VLGA) to provide prospective Brimbank Candidates with practical information on what it means to be a Councillor. The information will be presented to anyone interested over six sessions in early to mid-August.

Sessions 1-3 will cover becoming a councillor, understanding election campaign essentials, and prioritising self-care in public office.
Sessions 4-6 will provide women candidates with information on being a woman councillor, leveraging leadership experience, and staying safe whilst conducting your campaign, managing gender-based backlash and practising resistance.
In module 5 women candidates will learn how to leverage their experiences as women leaders in their community. Women candidates will learn about the importance of understanding the needs and issues in their community, the priorities of rate payers, and how to get out the women’s vote for their campaign.
