How to apply for exhibition opportunities

Exhibition Proposals 101 is a practical, accessible workshop designed to support artists and makers to develop strong, clear exhibition proposals.

Presented by Craft in partnership with the Brimbank City Council, this session will unpack what makes a compelling project proposal, how selection processes work, and how to communicate your creative practice with confidence and clarity.

Whether you are applying for your first exhibition opportunity or looking to strengthen your existing proposals, this workshop will provide practical tools, examples and insights you can apply immediately.

In this workshop, you’ll learn:

– What galleries are looking for in an exhibition proposal
– How to clearly articulate your concept, intent and outcomes
– How to structure key proposal components including artist statements, project descriptions and support material
– How to tailor proposals to different opportunities
– Common pitfalls to avoid
– Tips for strengthening your supporting documentation and images

Presented by Craft as part of INfuse, which connects our creative community through workshops, artist talks and presentations, providing training and inspiration for artists.

Free of charge, registrations required
