Stand-up comedy is writing for a character with a unique world view. The goal: to create the greatest joy a human can feel just through the careful phrasing of your words.
Join Sam Gebreselassie for an engaging workshop that delves into the art of comedy writing and performance.
Thursday 20 March, 3.30pm to 5.00pm
Free entry. Bookings required
In 1980, Sam’s parents escaped a war-torn Ethiopia for a Sudanese refugee camp. Then in 1998, when Sam was just a child, they found themselves all the way in New Zealand thanks to the UN’s resettlement program.
Having moved to Australia, Sam is now one of our own rising comedy stars. A multi-award-winning comedian, and a writer of personal and relatable stories, he is the winner of Comedy Out West 2017 & 2019, and described as ‘Endearing and hilarious’ by Theatre Thoughts.
